Ok, so now that we've been back a few days, here are a few things we have been up to.
This is Garrett's "Before" picture of his hair.
Here's the "After". It's not incredibly obvious from this angle but we gave him an undercut (which is what it sounds like, we left the top long and buzzed the hair underneath it). Anyway, we both think it turned out really well. He's such a stud.
Here's Rivvy sitting up. He's still learning how to balance and not hate it, but in this pic he had been sitting up for like 2 whole minutes before he started whining, which is kind of a record for him. And of course, Kailynny is loving all over him. Story of this kid's life. (But there could be worse things...)
Ok, here was one of the highlights of our weekend. It was probably my favorite thing we've done all summer. So we decided on the day of, to go on a little family hike. We chose Granite Trailhead in Sandy (which I took a picture of, but I think it got deleted :( ). We hiked .7 miles one way up to Lower Bell Canyon Reservoir.
It felt a little longer than I thought it would and there were a few times that we got a little paranoid that we weren't even on track to reach a reservoir at all, but we made it. The girls did so darn well, I was really impressed. It was pretty steep too, so that was really cool.
And one of our favorite parts about our hike (ahem, adventure) was feeding the ducks! We actually have never taken our children to feed ducks before (I know, worst-parents-of-the-year award), but it was so cool! The ducks were so eager to eat that they all like swarmed us (which makes me wonder if we were breaking a rule by feeding them... oops. There weren't any signs against it though so I don't feel that bad if we were disobeying). They were eating right out of the girls' hands and even after we were out of bread, they started walking up onto the shore by us just to make sure we didn't have anymore food for them. It was insane. (Especially for someone like me, because I am totally afraid of birds...)
Anyway, it was so cool to go on a hike. First, I probably have the most fun when just our family does activities. We don't have to schedule around anyone and we get to make all the decisions, so that's really fun. Second, we got some fun exercise. We even decided we might try to go pretty regularly. Weekly, if we can manage it, but we'll see. Third, it helped prove to me that our family of 3 very young children CAN do fun things without it turning into a disaster. No one complained. No one got injured. Everyone seemed to have fun. It wasn't this big trip we had to plan in detail months in advance. We just like hiking and we decided to go and it went well. I'm really proud of us.
Anyway, those were our festivities this week!

Yahoo! I've found it never works to upload videos straight to blogspot. I always do it to youtube and then embed it. That way I can easily find them again on youtube. Cute pictures of a cute family!
