Luckily, my mother-in-law is a 5th grade teacher and she has the hook-up. She got me on the substitute teaching list even after they weren't really letting people on it still. Once you're on the list, you're just supposed to check online to see when the available jobs are and everytime I checked, there were none. So again, being awesome, she gave my name to her teacher friends and yesterday I was able to sub for the first time. It was only a half day, but still, it's money. And I think it went really well. It's nice because you can just sign up as you want to and it's not like scheduled regular hours.
Then today, something else amazing happened. Because I wasn't sure that I would ever find available jobs subbing, I was applying to work at some random places. I only got an interview at one of them but it would have been the perfect job for me. It was on call and part-time and at a place called Center for Change. It's a residential treatment facility for girls with eating disorders and I would just be a Care Technician (which basically means I do everything the girls do). This place would also happen to look great on my resume. So being amazing yet again, my mother-in-law told me to call a ward friend of hers who works at Center for Change so that I could get some advice for the interview. I did and she gave me some great pointers. I thought the interview went pretty well, but I didn't think I'd get the job because they knew I was pregnant and would need time off and they also asked about my holiday plans and I told them I'd be with a newborn baby for Thanksgiving and then gone for most of Christmas. Anyway, I just really didn't think it would work out and the more I thought about it, the more I figured I hadn't gotten the job. They said they'd call either way to let me know if I got the job or if I didn't. So today I got a call and it turns out they are offering me the job. I accepted and I start training next week!

Isn't that amazing? I'm not sure exactly what my actual schedule will be like yet, but I'm meeting with them after the trainings next week so I'll probably find out then. I know that I will have to work some Sundays and Saturdays, but at least it won't be ALL of them, right? Anyway, I'm really impressed that I got that job because I was SURE I wouldn't get it. And, as a plus, with my Bachelor's degree, I get a whole $.40 more than someone without one. Nice.
In conclusion, aren't you proud? Even though I didn't really want to work, I looked for a job anyway. And then I actually got one. AMAZING!

Isn't Heavenly Father amazing. He gives us what we need when we need it. Another one of those "tender mercies" Elder Bednar tells us about. Love ya!

Big congratulations! Finding jobs is super hard... especially ones that are as rewarding as subbing. I'm sure you guys will really be blessed because you're taking on this challenge. We understand your lack of money situation... we're both still students and super excited to finally get a steady job that brings in some sort of steady income. Anyway, good luck and congrats!
