Leather Crafts

This is called a halfback. We make them in the leather craft clinic at my internship. I made one just so I would know how to use the tools and become familiar with the whole leather-decorating process. Each different design (seeds, shading, beveling, backgrounding, decorative cuts, etc.) uses a different tool with a mallet and they frequently require different techniques. This is the least advanced thing that they learn and then they don't do the stamping as much after completing this initial project. They have to move on, which entails choosing your own picture (this one is a generic one that everyone does) and beveling and shading the whole thing. After that they paint and stain and highlight and seal and buff the leather. It's really neat some of the things they can do, but this is just a little taste. They do all sorts of things from just plain pieces of leather with pictures on them to wallets to belts and other neat things. Anyway, this is just a little idea of one aspect that Recreation Therapists can deal with, if they want. So if you want, you can share with me how impressed you are with my talent... Just kidding. But seriously.

I love your talent because its so impressive! It really does look complicated! I wouldn't know at all how to take a piece of leather and make it look all cool like that. Can you make me on? I would love to frame it an use it as art. I'm serious, just in case you are wondering. You can make me one that is also a generic design like that because i think it looks cool, or you can make up a new design since I am sure you are advanced by now. Thanks and I can't wait to see mine :)
